The New Arch Enemy ? The Climate

Doctors have issued a warning stating the rapid climate changes are posing the biggest threat to global health in the 21st century. The rise of temperatures would lead to other patterns of infection, enlarging odds on insect-borne diseases such as malaria and dengue fever.

Shortages of water would be an additional concern for the future. In other parts of the world, the lack of water is very current. In latter stages, the children of Britain have to deal with the threat as well. Heatwaves like those in 2003 have cost casualties in Britain and it is very likely more of these waves will approach the Brits throughout time. Reasons enough to worry, nevertheless there is hope as well.

If the use of vehicles would decrease, the amount of damaging fumes would be decreased as well. That measure could mean people start walking and cycling more, which also works preventive of diseases.

I think it is an ideal time to live in. A lot is already invented and we ( especially in the West ) have access to whatever we need. The planet has a natural way of defending itself from influences outside the Earth, like radiations from the sun.

Nevertheless, the inhabitants of the planet are damaging this protection, the ozon layer, from the inside out. The people who currently live will not have to face the consequences, from that perspective a good time to live in this era. Future generations must be protected, but I think there are just too many people to truly stop the problem from growing. I can even, wandering what the worst case scenario would be, imagine that the temperatures raise so skyhigh that life will not be possible anymore on this planet from a certain year on.

Baby Foods or Baby McBreakfast

A recent investigation resulted in an embarrassing outcome for a leading brand in baby food manufacturing. One of the outcomes was that cheeseburgers and chocolate biscuits are more nutritious than the popular products from Heinz, the company in question. Research actually compared mini cheese biscuits, which are aimed at toddlers, with a Quarter Pounder Burger with cheese having the same weight. The unquestionable and stunning result is that the mini cheese biscuits contain more saturated fat.

Heinz, not the only offender in this category, was one of the front runners in the sugar category as well. As a result, Heinz had asked retailers to send produce back to the factories and the biscuits are even withdrawn from sale.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The rest of the article makes clear that it is even worse than junk food, which became obvious after the cheesy cookie lost the challenge against the Quarter Pounder. It is totally and utterly unacceptable this produce has been brought on the market in the first place. Heinz is responsible for sending this food on the market.

Are there not any quality checks done prematurely to the moment when they are shipped off to the retailers ? Consumers are not aware of these facts until it is pointed out. Normally I would not pick the mainstream perspective on the case, but as a good-willing and trusting customer you may at least assume that baby produce is nutritious.

Tory Leader Cameron Forces His Allies to Sign a Cheque or Check Out

David Cameron, leader of the Tories, has taken matters in the party in his own hands. He already ordered eight of his most important party members to refund any expense they might have declared in the past. Cameron must have been shocked to hear what kind of merchandise was purchased by his fellow partymembers. Luxury products like chandeliers were bought with tax payers' money, along with receiving unjustified services like horse manure and even the cleaning of swimming pools.

Cameron is not taking it lightly and has threatened to dismiss the members who will decide not to fully refund their declarations.

At last a MP with a back bone. I must say these MP's have been totally and utterly careless about this matter. I do not believe they have any regret about spending government money in this manner. In their defence, regulations permitted MP's to spend money on an occasional basis. I am not clear on what the restrictions of these arrangements were, so I have to hesitate on giving an opinion.

Judged on the fact it has been a hot item for months and the fact that people involved admit they were wrong causes me to believe the discussion will proceed the forthcoming weeks.

Cycling in Britain Getting Increasingly Dangerous ?

However the amount of cyclists was roughly the same between 2004 and 2007, the percentage of them which were killed by an accident has risen 11 percent over that period. In 2007 alone 646 pedestrians and 136 were killed and several thousands have suffered from injuries which were a result of a traffic accident.

Unsurprisingly the most dangerous city in the country to be either a cyclist or a pedestrian is London, demanding an average of 17 lives per 100,000 people. Growing concerns caused Tory MP Edward Leigh to state that “our poor performance on this field should be fuelling debates about the subject.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

London is a big city and everybody seems to be in a hurry. The capital will always have a higher percentage compared to other cities or villages. When the amount of cars are compared with the space available, this seems the only logical conclusion. There is nothing the government can do about the matter, besides treating the speedy drivers more strict by upgrading the measures which are in use at the moment.

I understand the concerns , but I am afraid there is not much you can do. Relying on the common sense and awareness of people is all you can hope for.

Father of Four Beaten to Death by Teenagers

Another disrupting message of violence, this time in Sheffield. Craig Wass, father of four and fiancée of wife-to-be Andrea Grundy, was clubbed as well as beaten to death with objects such as a brick, a piece of wood and even a golf club.

A witness related to the victim told the press he just came outside to tell five youngsters to keep the noise down. Instantly, the youngsters would have attacked him. His parents rushed outside, in spite of the fact there was nothing they could do.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As a person blessed with common sense it is impossible for me to imagine how five guys bash someone’s head in without they are being braked by a guilty conscience.
I cannot believe that all five of them suddenly blacked out at the exact same moment. If that is indeed the case, at least one of the five should have convinced the others to stop them ( on beforehand ). Due to the variety of weapons I think it was somewhat planned.

I think all of them should be locked up for life, without any chance of getting out any sooner. Five men against one, what an unbelievable amount of cowardice.

Theory Behind Laughing Discovered

What is laughter ? Laughter is an indication someone is comfortable at the time when the laugh is executed. Laughter turns out to be the ideal balance between tension and relief. It is displayed when a situation is experienced as playful and harmless.

Jan van Hooff, a professor of behavioural biology, has discovered that laughing is an effect of knowing what is coming, only not when and where. Good example are babies which are being entertained by tickling and playing peekaboo.

The theory also includes that chimps, like humans, do not need anyone around to laugh. Humans and chimps are able to laugh at their own 'achievements'. As proof he videoed a chimp making laughing noises while being alone, what should back up his statement.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A few years ago scientists discovered that mice and rats were able to laugh as well. What precisely have we 'discovered' here ? This will not be a shock to anyone. In my opinion, chimps are known for their positive and happy behaviour. It does not take a scientist to understand that chimps are able to laugh, even on youtube there are loads of videos providing you with such.

This is not the theory why we laugh, it is one of the theories why. Even a chimp understands that it is amusing that his fingers smell funny after scratching his behind. Open-door science, that is how I would describe it.

Swine Flu Demands First Scottish Life After Over 500 Scots Have Been Contaminated

The number of Scots suffering from the Swine flu has passed the border of 500, leaving out 351 possible cases which are diagnosed at the time. The victim who died from the effects of the disease was a 38-year old woman from Glasgow. Last Sunday the flu became fatal to her, making her the first death in Europe from the effects of Swine Flu.

However the numbers are rising every day in Scotland, Health Nicola Sturgeon stated there is no need to be afraid. By taking safety measures like washing your hands and using tissues after sneezing or coughing, the risk will be minimized. Easy hygienic procedures which could prove valuable when applied on a large scale.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A lot about the Swine Flu is unclear. It is obvious to me that it is increasingly problematic to the citizens throughout all countries. A real fit cure has not been found, a medicine that diminishes the impact of the disease is available. I think people are ought to go to the GP themselves if they think that something is wrong.

I also think that the care in Europe is of such an high level that an estimated 99,9 percent will survive the disease. Question is if the virus will survive the summer, because it does not like dry and warm periods.
